The joys of technology

More than once i have been let down with ict with this assignment, especially at my time of need :(

As you can see i have tried everything and feel frustrated as put allot of effort into this assign where i thought my finished work was reasonably good ;D

Fingers crossed can get sorted tom i've put photos up on previous blog before 12.00 to evidence show that i had work ready just could not up load for love nor money!!!

Please Jo stay away ;( Also noticed im not the only one with problems uploading hope we get sorted tom ;D

Sorry bloggers for this inept bit of moaning but actually i think its valued!!!

A liitle light hearted now for you bloggers while all this palaver been going on (HRS) my 9 year was doing some stimulating work on his computer earlier :D

Education City 

This is a safe fun inclusive learning and gaming experience which facilitates deeper learning in and outside school. My son had his free code off school a while ago, so he can use at home and challenging his friends to a live "Maths" games. 

Also they use another fun programme called 'purple mash' has been made available for him to enjoy and use!!!

Stress Stress Stress

In Reply to many of you....

I have had a shocker crammed allot of work effort in this week but unfortunately ICT let me down in a big way. I have lost my work on more than one occasion :(

Just goes to sure even with advances sometimes technology does its own thing!!!

Add yes i did save along way but unfort my Mac didn't care about that!!!

School Technology 7 The Laptop Computers and Wi Fi

The Laptop

There is firstly a Laptop (Toshiba) in every class for teachers to use. Apart from the obvious functions for research and documentation which help a teacher for planning a lesson, they also now through a software 'SIMS' take register's and work levels from subjects. 

  We are currently piloting a new behaviour electronic sheet on there as paper versions are taking too long. Apart from the teacher laptop there are a few additional laptop placed in classes solely for core subject catch up work

There is one in my current class which i have used with pupils go and use cool maths, sumdog, rapid maths and rapid english. These visual programme aid's improve confidence and records pupils progress.

Computers

           

At my service setting we are fortunate to have a computer suite with some up to date computers and windows 10 software on them. The pupils love accessing this room where they are confident to work independently. However they have an individual ID log in number which is monitored for security reasons.

Wi Fi has recently been installed throughout our school which has significantly improve the effectiveness and quality of all technology!!!

All Other Technology at my school

As you can notice the one students and pupils use the most is the overhead projector. The Apple I Pad's have taken over where you can do everything on the one device compared with the flip camera and cameras.

I Mac and NoteBooks

The benefits from I Mac even far succeed other Apple products you can perform so much more operations compared with other technology. However the smaller basic notebooks we have at our school are hidden away because there is not a current need for them. We have the opposite ends of the scale new tech and older tech!!! The reality is although the Mac is hugely beneficial it is expensive and with educational budgets being cut the stark truth is there will remain one untouched Mac at our school! SHAME :(

LCD TV and Apple TV

Where they are used and What for

The LCD (2) TV's are used as a visual aid and an alternate way of learning compared with the conventional overhead projectors. Thats all you need is a HDMI lead

 and either your laptop or Apple TV box connected the other end for instant high quality viewing. When using Apple TV and connected you can simply mirror from any Apple device (No Wires) instantly.  

I Have Learned

That because we have children with learning difficulties there concentrating levels are short and they are often impatient, more so than your average pupil. The key selling factor is that almost instant action from a command which you get with both especially the I Pad when mirroring.

I Can Apply This To Support Pupils

As commented previously you can use this across the curriculum in order for a deeper learning experience. I have used puppet pals and also story buddy which the pupils thoroughly enjoyed. When they finished their projects they could quickly turn take with the Apple TV and I Pad at the touch of a button. Storey Buddy 2

Impact On Learning

Significant learning occurs especially in their thought and creative process as many pupils struggle when given just a piece of paper and pen.

Changes To Help Learner

Where realistic allowing them time to play around with the software in order to be further infused with the topic their working on.

Applying Theory Into Practise 

Reality is not many LCD TV's or Apple TV's so possible highlight advantages to pupils from these technology and try to suggest more investment into these items which will benefit pupils.

Smart TV

Ironically the one Smart Tv we have in school is also the one I currently have at home- Samsung F7000 Series 7 

The functions and learning potential for pupils again are endless and it would help with all types of learners (Kinsetic, Visual, Audio). The voice control is brilliant and you do not need a media converter to play information stored, you can just save all types of files then plug into one of the TV USB ports which will instantly play from any format :D

The smart Hub allows quick and easy access to the Internet through the school Wi Fi. The remote is very user friendly as some TV remotes can frighten adults with the amount of information on them!!! 

I can honestly say this is the best TV i have personally come across and it gets better because as years go buy and further advance with technology you do not need get rid of this as its got a built in software update capacity built in!!!

As commented the only negative thing is at school it is hardly used some examples could be too keep certain pupils on task like rewards or even rewarding the pupils who get missed and do their work but don't get as much attention or praise as they deserve!!!

Below is an example of how you can use the facility better to reward and further develop learning experiences!!!

Apple Products in Education

This is one of the most common pieces of technology currently being used in school's across the country including my current learning settings. I am an Apple advocate because my family and friends personally use them outside of school which highlights and reinforces the benefits for use in any setting.

Every pupil learns differently and with the aid from the i pad and with minimal effort it can transform pupils learning. You can adapt and use programmes to suit their individual needs which is extremely important when working with all children especially ones with learning difficulties. Each Teacher has a fully accessible I pad designated to further learning (15). Also there are 6 pupil I pads which are allocated out for lessons on a rotor which are restricted by local authority IT. We use them all over the curriculum to help engage, improve their concentration and in general their learning experience. Top Educational Apps

I Have Learned

That the pupils are highly confident with this technology thus learning to stand back and not Scaffold too much with their learning.

I Can Apply This To Support Pupils

By identifying opportunities to help pupils who are struggling to engage by tapping into something they enjoy.

Impact On Learning

There has been a huge positive impact on learning in my service setting especially as we have a wide range of complex learners at our setting. 

From the list above all  and some have progressed pupils learning immensely.

Changes To Help Learner

Consistency and routine would help consolidate and improve the pupils learning experience. I have used many Apps which have been beneficial- Puppet Pals 

is a great App for imaginative story writing which can be cross curricular!!! 

However i could realistically allow the learner to explore the I Pad rather than telling them what to go on, which improve their learning experiences more.

Applying Theory Into Practise 

Although we are not too bad with Apple products i do feel we could invest in a few more which would make a difference. Also the reality is how often we are allocated the I Pads but we could coordinate that better with the head facilitator of the I Pads.
